Harmony Recordings is a Record Label founded and managed by vocalist, producer/dj LP, also known as Alaska (AlaskaLP)… as a consolidation of several labels under one banner.

LP began his musical journey in South Florida, spinning at house parties and performing at regional events and parties under the banner Chicago Style Dj's. In 1988 he came in contact with lifelong friend DJ/MC/Producer Boogie Waters which led to an introduction to his friend and mentor - Kenny G of Get Some Express DJ's. LP soon became a member of the then newly formed Get Some Crew as a DJ/Producer and went on to release several hits and tour throughout the US.

He went on to pioneer and unit the mighty SoulProviders which sound was an original mix of Hardcore Breaks, Bass, Hip-hop, R&B, and Reggae - emerging within the local merging underground scene and showing its self to have more roots on the other side of the pond as Jungle Drum & Bass. This  culminated in his first major Hip-hop album release Environmentalities. His love of life and passion for Jungle music brought together him and his brother UK vocalist MC Navigator - collaborating often moving forward, leading to a move overseas to the UK where the group Rawhill was formed - a collaboration of German, English and Jamaican artists that shared a vision of unity through music.

After the Rawhill project, LP took time to absorb more of the UK’s rich underground music culture, at which time he left London and made home in Birmingham UK after being invited by Robbo Dread and Prince Jamo from the legendary Scientist Sound.

During the next decade in Birmingham, LP took on the name Alaska MC and forged forward with newfound mentor D’Major from Vomit studios - the de facto godfather of Birmingham’s underground urban music scene. Under the name Alaska MC, LP took advice after vocaling a project with the talented ‘Habitat 13’ which marked a shift in delivery style that focused on live performance, high energy, and inspired by South Florida bass music - showing homage to the late, great godfather of bass, Big Ace - from Jam Pony Express, whom LP had worked with through Getsum crew years prior.

With an introduction through his brother MC Navigator, LP was able to break out with the hit single from the legendary band ‘Freestylers’ titled ‘Bounce to this’, remixed by acclaimed DJ/Producer ‘Erb N Dub’. He went on to record more hit singles with Featurecast, Pimpsoul, PureSX, DJ Gira, Beat Maveriks, JDOUBLE, and Ltrain.

After speaking with and taking advice from Kenny G, LP started discussions with vocalist and songwriter Total Kaos, and bass music legend KOOLEY C - coming to the conclusion that creating independent labels was the way forward, giving new artist and producers a platform. With their backing - the launch of the labels, Funlife Music, MiamiBassRecords, Soulpro Music and Planetary Recordings, coincided with the launch of his brothers ODT brand, which was commemorated with their first hit single launch ‘Let Loose’.  LP released music relentlessly for the next few years, working with countless breaks, electronic, dance, hip-hop producers and outfits from all around the world, including the likes of - Spankers, DJ Vlak, Joseph Lalibela, Simplistix, ASbeat, Taz Stereonation, Ltrain, Jock-D, Alex Weir, Jcross, Social Security, and Charlotte Devaney.

Two years into the labels development, KOOLEY C and Total Kaos both made their passing within a few months of eachother unexpectedly. It was a huge blow emotionally and raised questions as to whether the labels should continue, however after further consultation with Kenny G the decision to press forward was heartfelt and agreed upon.

Soon after this decision, LP’s long time friend and now partner, Empress T, was rushed into emergency and revealed to have a rare form of bone cancer. Since then, his focus has been at home with his family caring for her and implementing progressive wellbeing practices.

In the midst of 2020’s lockdown, longtime friend and mentors Kenny G and D’major made their Rest In Power.

Harmony Recordings is the collective musical effort and spirit of countless creative individuals that have been an immense part of LP’s life over the last twenty years, that are focused on the betterment, and people living in harmony.

‘’ I’ve been blessed to go through the type of experiences in life that not only tear you down, but empower you to be the best you. Finding ways to love yourself and your environment is the key. ’’
